Certification as a Biofeedback Therapist.
Equipment Required:
Basic office equipment, computer, printer, fax, cell phone, online access, medical equipment to measure muscle movement, pulse, heart rate, and breathing.
Information on Business:
Basics:
When individuals feel chronic pain or complaints a Biofeedback therapist will find the source of the pain or discomfort. You will be using specialized equipment that will give you numerous tests results and your training and experience will help interpret what those results mean. In cases where the test results indicate further treatment, your clients can be referred to physicians or psychologists. You will be helping your clients alleviate their pains and by so doing, helping them live a healthier happier life.

To Get Started:
First you need to obtain a certificate or license as a Biofeedback Therapist. Purchase the specialized required equipment which should cost $30,000 to $60,000. You should then begin to advertise in community newspapers, online, the yellow pages, and direct contact with psychologists and physicians. You should charge $150 to $200 per hour on a session basis. Once you obtain a few clients and refer some to other health care professionals you should be able to obtain additional clients by word of mouth from them.

Tips:
This business will grow much by referrals, so it is very important to do excellent work from the beginning. The more you understand how to work with people and help them respond positively to stress, the higher your profit will be. It is also very important to understand the insurance process as some companies do not cover your services and it can get trickier, as long as you can keep up with the changes you will be successful. Hire an office manager that understands well these insurance issues. This business is not an opportunity for people with disabilities unless the necessary work can be performed. You should be able to work from home and you will need to recruit additional staff to help you manage the business. Keep an eye out for insurance costs since these can get out of hand, also maintain your equipment regularly otherwise you will get wrong readings and that will finish your business.
